Background

Tata Sky Ltd were seeking a high performance, highly reliable 24 x 7 compliance logging and monitoring broadcast solution to enable them to accurately capture and monitor broadcasts for all DTH services. Quality and system integrity were of the upmost importance as Tata Sky are investing in building a first class digital infrastructure in the country to offer a superior television viewing experience to Indian households and superior services to worldwide advertisers.

The Solution

:mediproxy's Enigma v6 broadcast solution was selected by TataSky as a sophisticated and practical system which not only enables broadcasters to accurately monitor and log service broadcasts but also allows a large number of users to simultaneously access multiple channels of live and archived content on local networks and the Internet. Tatasky also viewed the system platform as highly flexible and fault tolerant with enormous potential for future development.

• Highly optimised form factor through 1RU platform providing 4 channels with redundant power supplies and RAID5 HDD array.
• Fault tolerance - self-healing server architecture, and redundant archive recording elements - critical in the high regulatory, high compliancy environment the professional broadcasters operate.
• Ability to build 'hot-swap software' configurations on server- as above
• Virtual server architecture may be implemented across multiple hardware units.
• Almost infinite combinations of server configuration – allowing flexible system design options.
• Simultaneous multiple encoding bit-rates & resolutions optionally supported for each logged program.
• E-mail and SNMP alarm support – at system and operational levels
• Multiple time-zones per chassis – allowing a variety of captured programs from different time regions simultaneously.
• Open control protocol 'mpTalk™' which allows mediaproxy, customer or third party developers to freely create new server nodes and control or client applications. Provides the ability to monitor and control most elements of runtime system variables.
